Today some of the Leigh-Pack went to the Tredegar Allotments where we got a Fantastic opportunity to see the bees in some very stylish bee suits! We even got to meet the queen bee and learn lots of interesting facts about them. Then after, we got to have some famous Honey cake which was delicious. After the bees we went to the Allotments to learn all about wildlife and plants. The Cubs enjoyed trying to attract the birds with maggots and some even got some things to take home. After all this we had a packed lunch on the Community Patch in the lovely sunshine! We would like to say a BIG thank you for having us as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and got to learn some interesting facts. I would also like to add that no-one got stung in the duration of this trip. 🙂
2013-06-21 – Leigh Pack HMS Belfast
The Cubs spent an enjoyable night on the HMS Belfast where they ate pizza and spent a night in 1950’s style Bunks. In the morning they had an interesting talk on the History of the Ship and got to have a look at the ship and try out the hammocks the sailors used to sleep in. Then we all went to London Tower Bridge and had a tour, which the cubs really liked. We really enjoyed this trip and it was a fantastic experience for the cubs. Thank you to the HMS Belfast for having us.

Gareth Johnson MP Supports 5th
Group Chairman, Neil Young, recently met with our local MP, Gareth Johnson, at the Houses of Parliament to discuss fundraising and our plans for the New Hall. Gareth was impressed with our progress so far and offered to support the Group in any way that he can. In addition to providing us with this formal letter of support for our proposal document and sharing some contacts and ideas regarding fundraising, he has offered to host some of our young members at the Houses of Parliament later in the year. 2013-06-20 – Collins Food Fun
On a night that clashed with the local school disco, the Collins-Pack found themselves a little short on numbers, so it was out with the Trangia sets to have some fun with food. As you can see, the lads had fun pushing cooked spaghetti through chunks of sausage 😉
2013-06-06 – Philpotts @ Hobbycraft
Hobbycraft at Crayford played host to 16 Philpott Beavers at 4.30pm on a very warm Thursday afternoon.
Father’s Day gifts were the order of the day and after a warm welcome from Debbie & Kirsty and a few ‘house rules’ and a toilet run we set to work cutting and gluing various small pieces of patterned tissue paper to transform plain grey cardboard chests into colourful boxes which we later filled with chocolates.
During our visit the boys were also given a much needed drink and biscuit and after a round of applause for our most welcoming hosts the Beavers were collected by their parents at 5.50.
Our thanks to Hobbycraft, we look forward to visiting you again.
