Nationwide Community Match Scheme

NationwideNationwide customers have nominated 5th Dartford Scout Group, New Hall Fund to feature in their Community Match scheme. Community Match is an in-branch local charity voting scheme. Each quarter, branches feature three local charities/community organisations from customer nominations. Customers are then invited to vote for a winner. We will receive a £100 donation for being shortlisted to feature in the Community Match voting scheme and if we receive the most votes at the end of the voting campaign we’ll receive an additional £500.

Between Tuesday 3 May and Thursday 30 June, you’ll notice a poster displayed in the following Nationwide branches: Dartford, Longfield, Gravesend, Bexleyheath, Sidcup & Eltham, so please pop in and vote for us.

MarathonMassive congratulations to Dave Monteith for completing the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday in a very respectable 4:54:17. Dave had chosen to run and raise funds for two charities very close to his heart, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and our own New Hall Fund.

At the time of writing, Dave has raised in excess of £4,640. Thank you to everyone who sponsored him, but it’s not too late if you haven’t done so yet, simply click HERE and give as little or as much as you can.

Dave, we salute your achievement and thank you for your effort.

2016-04-21 – H.M.Queen’s 90th Birthday

happy_birthday_presentsPhilpott Beavers celebrate H.M.Queen Elizabeth’s 90th Birthday

A party was held to celebrate The Queens 90th birthday. All beavers were told they could invite one parent and younger siblings to join in the fun and games and everyone must wear red, white and blue in some form.

The bunting put up, the tables laid street party style and the balloons inflated and then we waited to see how many would turn up.

What a magnificent turn out! All 24 Beavers arrived along with 3 Dads, 9 Mums, 2 Grandma’s and 7 Siblings.

Mixed age musical chairs, team game race to fill canes with ‘Walter Woggles’, pass the peas from one plate to another by sucking up a straw and finally musical bumps for all the children.

Halfway through everyone went outside and despite a chilly wind got tucked into red, White and Blue decorated cakes & chocolate biscuits all washed down with appropriately coloured fizzy pop. We even sung ‘Happy Birthday’ to her majesty.

A very big Thank You to all the adults who turned up and joined in the fun.

What good sports you all were!!

2016-04-14 – Philpott Double Birthday

happy-birthday[1]Thursday 14 April 2016 was a double celebration day for leaders of the Philpott Beaver Colony.

Congratulations to Big Beaver who celebrated her 60th Birthday and  Kind Beaver who celebrated her 18th Birthday.

We all tucked into a large lump of cake with our drinks after making then blow out their candles whilst we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to them.

Then they helped all the Beavers make their decorated crowns ready for the Queen’s 90th birthday party the following week.
