Scouts belong to the third section of the scouting family and are easily recognised by their smart, dark green shirts.

The age range is from 10 1/2 to 14 and Scouts often link from one of our Cub packs, but you can still be a Scout without having first been in the Cubs.

There are loads of exciting things that you can do as a Scout. You’ll get the oppertunaty to try lots of different activities like Camping, Saw & Axe, firelighting, map reading, climbing, bouldering, hiking, JOTT, exploring, computing, Shooting with Air Rifle and pistols, Archery, collecting and many, many more. If you do them properly and with competence you’ll often get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.

5th Dartford has two well established Scouts Troops; Earley Troop, Est 1916 and Burne Troop, Est 1986.

Once Scouts reach 14 they will start to network with our Explorer Group, the Johnston Explorers – The 4th stage in Scouting.

How Can I Join the Scouts?

If you would like to take part in the fun of Scouting at 5th Dartford, either as a Scout, an adult leader or helper, then please visit our Join Us page.

Where can I buy my uniform?

Your official Scout uniform is the same wherever you buy it, but you may well find it cheaper and more convenient to purchase from the shop at Dartford district Scout House in Broomhill Rd, DA1 3HT, which is usually open on Monday evenings between 19:00 and 21:00.

Alternativly, uniforms can be bought locally from TFS Schoolwear, 45 Spital Street, Dartford, DA1 2DX or John Lewis or online from the scout-and-guide-shop or indeed on ebay, where both new and preowned bargains can be had.

Where do I put my Scout Awards and Badges?
