2013-06-29 – Phillips Cub Camp

cub campWith the weather favorable, 21 members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group’s Phillips-Pack Cub Scouts arrived at Hope Hill Scout Campsite for their annual pack camp.  P1010224

Camp had already been setup for the young adventurers, so after stowing their kit and a quick run through of the safety rules, they were straight in with the programme.  The theme of the camp was ‘Cops ‘n’ robbers’, with the campers being split into 4 forces, Kent, Essex, Sussex & the Met’.  Donning police helmets, the ‘officers’ made warrant cards, truncheons and made their fingerprints on balloons.  To test their investigative skills, there were treasure hunts and problem solving exercises and when Shea of the Johnston ESU ‘stole’ the camp sweets, they chased him down and incarcerated him in a jail they helped build with scout knots, before the real police came to arrest him.  Whilst on site, the police, from North Kent Police station, showed the cubs their equipment, allowed them to sit in the cells in the van, took a Q&A session and demonstrated ‘reasonable force’ & search procedures on assisting Earley-Troop Scouts James, Angus & Tom.

Well done to all the young folk who attended this camp and for participating so well in the activities which count towards your activity and challenge awards.  There were so many activities, the cubs had an excellent time and also enjoyed excellent food prepared by Karen and come home time everyone was worn out including leaders Tracy, Kay, Jason, Darren and Neil.
