2017-06-03 – Cubs Activity Day

Cub’s Activity Day & Sleepover – Saturday 3rd June 2017

After the cub leaders scratching their heads with what to do this year for our cubs we thought why go away when we have got all we need at our head quarters.   Apart from grass for camping, we had our luxury hall to sleep in.

At 10am 30 plus cubs arrived.  The archery, shooting and climbing was all set up in advance.  After splitting up the cubs into 3 groups we commenced with an hour and a half sessions on each activity with a break, light lunch and a cuppa.

Lots of potential shooters, archers and climbers were discovered and to make it more competitive Kay and Jason devised a scoring system to give it an edge.  By late afternoon we had a trip to the playing fields where we played rounders and were able to use our giant parachute.  Coming down the hill at 6pm we could all smell the BBQ which Paul had on the go and along with jacket potatoes and beans then cake hot chocolate and mallows done on the campfire we all enjoyed a nice meal.  The evening entertainment consisted of good old Brucie and play your cards right.  On a glorious evening we all tried to stay up as long as we could but finally had to hit our sleeping bags. In the morning we rose to a continental breakfast followed by games, prize giving and a very competitive game of bar skittles.  Cubs were collected at 10am then we retreated to our homes for a well earned rest.

Many thanks to all that helped from the people running the activities and the cooks and hands on helpers.  I believe this was a success as no complaints yet; another great 5th team effort.
