It was with sad regret we learned of the passing today of former Philpott Beaver Leader, Jean \u2018Little Elk\u2019 Penman.<\/span><\/p>\n Jean started off as Assistant Leader to Ann Williams in 1985 and later took over as the Beaver Leader until April 2000 when, because of health issues, she decided to hand over the reins of the Colony to Wendy Hurd. As Leader she organised many outings for her Beavers and their families from a glorious sunny day trip to Camber Sands filling\u00a0a 52 seater coach plus cars. On the other extreme a very wet trip to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark when she had to ring the coach company and ask them to collect us two hours early as the weather was so bad, and a very memorable family day at Shorne Country Park culminating in an enormous game of rounders.<\/span><\/p>\n Her husband Robert and son Jason always by her side giving her full support.<\/span><\/p>\n Our thoughts are with you Robert & Jason at this very sad time.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It was with sad regret we learned of the passing today of former Philpott Beaver Leader, Jean \u2018Little Elk\u2019 Penman.
