With a chill in the air more fitting to Winter Camp, 45 members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group ventured again to\u00a0Thriftwood Scout Campsite in Brentwood for our\u00a0annual Easter Camp.<\/p>\nWith a chill in the air more fitting to Winter Camp, 45 members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group ventured again to\u00a0Thriftwood Scout Campsite in Brentwood for our\u00a0annual Easter Camp.<\/p>\n
Blessed with\u00a0dry weather and a well stocked wood pile, all the facilities were there for the Scouts and Explorers\u00a0to put into practice what they had learned over the years and for our prospective Patrol Leaders to accept responsibility and take charge of their patrols.<\/p>\n
The theme was ‘Backwoods<\/em>‘, with all meals\u00a0being cooked by the Scouts,\u00a0on an open fire,\u00a0fueled by\u00a0wood they cut,\u00a0split and lit themselves.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Other activities included\u00a0climbing, Tent-peg carving,\u00a0archery,\u00a0wide games and fishing, where the largest catch of the day was landed by linking Cub Scout Lauren on her Saturday visit with Harriet.<\/p>\n On this camp a great many lessons were learned by all, but by far the greatest realisation for the Scouts was just how difficult things can be without proper planning and teamwork, especially when the breakfast fairy hasn’t done it all before they wake\u00a0up \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" With a chill in the air more fitting to Winter Camp, 45 members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group ventured again to\u00a0Thriftwood Scout Campsite in Brentwood for our\u00a0annual Easter Camp.
