Today, 14 adventurers\u00a0from the 5th Dartford Scout Group’s Earley<\/a>,\u00a0Burne<\/a> and Johnson<\/a> sections\u00a0participated in our third\u00a0 Power Kiting adventure organised, as always, by the Kent Scout’s<\/a> Air\u00a0Activities<\/a> Team on Blackheath Common.<\/p>\n

We met at 10am on a warm, sunny,\u00a0windy day – the optimum conditions for Power Kiting<\/a>; and with the early morning spent getting our younger and less experienced members familiar\u00a0and proficient at the sport, we progressed to larger\u00a0and more powerful kites.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we broke for lunch the gusts became stronger and\u00a0sustained so\u00a0we had to drop back to the smaller kites when the session\u00a0resumed and\u00a0hoped that the gusts would drop back.\u00a0 However,\u00a0we sadly had to cut the day short on safety grounds as the gusts reached levels where personal safety could be compromised, but there was nothing but smiles and tales of “the buzz” and “Epic Fails” from the Scouts as we departed.<\/p>\n

Today’s conditions were by far the best we’ve experienced, but let’s hope that our next\u00a0time will be much the same as today, but without the gusts!<\/p>\n
