{"id":5273,"date":"2012-04-09T23:49:08","date_gmt":"2012-04-09T22:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/?p=5273"},"modified":"2012-04-10T07:39:20","modified_gmt":"2012-04-10T06:39:20","slug":"2012-04-06-easter-camp-thriftwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/?p=5273","title":{"rendered":"2012-04-06 &#8211; Easter Camp @ Thriftwood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Easter.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1656\" title=\"Easter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Easter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"69\" \/><\/a>On a bright &amp; sunny Good Friday&#8217;s morning, members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group&#8217;s <a title=\"Earley-Troop\" href=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/?page_id=33\" target=\"_blank\">Earley-Troop<\/a>, <a title=\"Burne-Troop\" href=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/?page_id=30\" target=\"_blank\">Burne Troop<\/a> and <a title=\"Johnston Explorers \" href=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/?page_id=36\" target=\"_blank\">Johnston Explorers<\/a> descended on <a title=\"Thriftwood\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thriftwood.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thriftwood<\/a> Campsite, Brentwood\u00a0for our annual Easter Camp. Conditions upon arrival were favourable and setting up in the sunshine is always a bonus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme was a simple one, with all meals cooked by the Scouts &#8220;Backwoods&#8221; style and activities including fishing, whittling, axe &amp; saw, camp gadgets, canoeing, 3D maze, assault course and the Easter Egg Hunt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every Scout was able to catch at least one fish, but many landed a considerable catch, with some very nice specimens caught too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 5th\u00a0Easter Camp is widely known for\u00a0its adventurous menu choices, where the Scouts are asked to prepare and cook food\u00a0they wouldn&#8217;t usually attempt in an oven, let alone over coals and this camp\u00a0 was no exception with 3 large fresh whole salmon selected Friday morning.\u00a0 With only 3 passers on the meal, the overwhelming buzz from the Scouts was that the fish was a success and tasted even better having done it themselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thanks to Darren for the planning of this camp and to all the attending leaders who made it possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC00703.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5276\" title=\"DSC00703\" src=\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC00703.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"577\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On a bright &amp; sunny Good Friday&#8217;s morning, members of the 5th Dartford Scout Group&#8217;s Earley-Troop, Burne Troop and Johnston Explorers descended on Thriftwood Campsite, Brentwood\u00a0for our annual Easter Camp.
