Over the past 6 weeks, Leaders from both the 5th Dartford Scouts Group’s Earley and Burne Troops have been instructing 13 of our own scouts and 3 visitors from 9th Dartford Scout Group to become proficient in the sport of air rifle target shooting.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The course concluded with an exam, in which a minimum of 70% must be attained before progressing to the shooting part of the test.\u00a0We are proud to announce that every attendee passed the theory exam and progressed to the shoot off.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The “Shoot off” consisted of a\u00a0practice card upon which as many “sighting” shots could be fired in a limited time period, in order for the participants to familiarise themselves with the rifle they had been allocated.\u00a0 Thereafter, a further 4 cards were issued where 5 pellets were shot at each.<\/p>\n
In order to grade the participant\u2019s capability, the NSRA created the following grade bands.<\/p>\n
100 \u2013 124 \u2013 Skilled Shot<\/strong><\/p>\n 125 \u2013 149 \u2013 Marksman<\/strong><\/p>\n 150 \u2013 174 \u2013 Expert Shot<\/strong><\/p>\n 175+ Master Shot<\/strong><\/p>\n I kid you not, we were staggered with the level of competence we saw this year, with many scouts hitting excellent scores, but a special mention to Henry from the 9th<\/sup> Dartford Scout Group for attaining \u201cExpert Shot<\/strong>\u201d and to the Earley Troop\u2019s own Connor who achieved \u201cMaster Shot<\/strong>\u201d – The highest possible grade within the NSRA\u2019s YPS scheme and the first one the 5th<\/sup> Dartford Scout Group has been awarded.\u00a0 Thankfully, both these scouts and almost all who attended the course will be representing Dartford at this year\u2019s annual National Scout\u2019s Rifle Target Shooting Competition at NSRA Bisley next weekend.<\/p>\n Congratulations to everyone who qualified and who\u2019s results are published below.<\/p>\n Over the past 6 weeks, Leaders from both the 5th Dartford Scouts Group’s Earley and Burne Troops have been instructing 13 of our own scouts and 3 visitors from 9th Dartford Scout Group to become proficient in the sport of … Continue reading ![\"DSC09071\"](\"http:\/\/www.5thdartfordscouts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC09071.JPG\" "\\"DSC09071\\"")
