Target Rifle Shooting

nsraWith 9 NSRA trained and certified instructors, all of whom are registered on the Kent County Scouts Target Shooting Instructors database, the 5th Dartford Scout Group are able to run regular target shooting activities, courses and competitions either in our hall, our purpose built shooting range or at the National Scout Air Rifle Championships, in which we compete annually.

All participants must yps_11complete a Section 21 declaration in accordance with the 1968 firearms act, to confirm they have no legal restriction on the use of air rifles and we hold these declarations on file should the authorities wish to inspect them.

We usually hold the NSRA Youth Proficiency Scheme (YPS) course biannually, which runs over 7 evenings and aims to bring novice shooters to a good level of competence.  All of our best shooters have completed this course.

We have a reasonable armory with rifles to suit smaller novice shooters, full power rifles for the older Scouts and our new tournament grade gas pre-charged rifles for our more experienced members.  We also have a number of competition pistols upon which we can offer instruction.

Tmaster_at_armsarget rifle shooting is without doubt one sport, which counts as an adventurous activity and when a Scout completes the YPS course or competes at Bisley for the National Championships, we can also award the Master at Arms activity badge.
